Why yes, I am easily distracted by shiny things and Hamilton!
After months of entering the daily lottery to win tickets to see Hamilton, I actually won. I couldn’t believe it! Of course it was for the Wednesday matinee, so I had to miss work if I wanted to go. And I wasn’t going to miss my shot (pun intended). Sure, I had to work Wednesday night to make up for it, but it was well worth it.
The show definitely lives up to the hype. It doesn’t disappoint. I’m not one for Broadway musicals and even I loved the performance. The staging, choreography, acting, singing, songs, music, and lyrics are all amazing. Love the use of rap and hip-hop, and the homage to classic rap, such as Grand Master Flash. And while the musical is getting attention for all the hip-hop and rap, there are also jazz, pop, and Broadway influences.
I can’t stop listening to the cast album or humming the songs. I’ve been floating on a Hamilton high this week. Hope you had a good week!
Oooh look at these shiny objects . . .
- He has a gift. His Wheel of Freestyle is off the hook.
- Worth the climb. No, really, look and see.
- Why, yes, he does have “all the good stuff.”
- The enduring appeal of Jane Austen’s most famous first line.
- Because this is seriously so cute. Love the pics of Helen and RBG.
I’ve been reading . . . The Nix by Nathan Hill.
I’ve been watching . . . Game of Thrones, Episode 2, Season 7. My thoughts: Arya and Nymeria—yes! And sorry folks, but I think that closes the loop on that storyline. Everyone is sending ravens to Jon Snow. Why hasn’t the Night Watch sent a raven to Jon Snow about Bran’s arrival? At last, Grey Worm and Missandei. Really now you question Varys? BTW, you sent Jorah away for less. Oleanna Tyrell still has the best lines. Bye Sand Snakes. I’m guessing Ellaria won’t be too far behind you seeing as she’s about to be Euron’s gift to Cersei. And we’re back to the old Theon. Typical, but maybe also his best move. Cersei with the upper hand. Again. I’m getting annoyed. Yay! Jon is going to Dragonstone. Shit, that leaves Sansa with Littlefinger. Time for more Brienne. As quickly as Jon Snow seems to be getting to Dragonstone based on next week’s previews, I expect that Arya be at Winterfell then.
I’ve been listening to . . . Hamilton.
Have a wonderful weekend!
