Why yes, I am easily distracted by shiny things and Amsterdam, dam, dam, dam.
I’ve been spending the week in Amsterdam, and it is wonderful! It’s my fourth visit here. I love this city—the food, the energy, the canals, the sites, the shopping. It’s all great. I’ve also ventured outside the city to The Hague and Geithoorn (Goat Horn).
But more than anything, each time I come here, it’s the people I meet who make each trip so memorable. They remind me of the beautiful diversity in our world, and how much we can learn from each other. Despite other things going on this week, I feel blessed and lucky to be here and have had a wonderful week. Hope you had a great week too!
Oooh look at these shiny objects . . .
- On keeping the right balance in a favorite tourist city.
- Would you try “wasted food?”
- One of many great shops in Amsterdam.
- The Venice of the North, or a town called Goat Horn.
- Because I needed this this week.
I’ve been reading . . . Madonna in a Fur Coat by Sabahattin Ali and Before We Visit the Goddess by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. I also read and finished Tulip Fever by Deborah Moggarch, the author of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Tulip Fever takes place in Amsterdam, so I had to read it this week. It was a quick and easy read, which is what I needed after The Sympathizer.
I’ve been watching . . . not a darn thing. I’m in Amsterdam!
I’ve been listening to . . . Leon Bridges and the La La Land soundtrack. I can’t seem to get away from these two.
Have a wonderful weekend!
