Why yes, I am easily distracted by shiny things and a new idea and another and another.
This week has been a slow work week (which is nice to have once in awhile), and a good week for getting things done at home and for new ideas. Only thing is, I don’t need new ideas. I have plenty. So I spent my time this week on new ideas but no completion. Maybe that’s just what I needed to do though—set up ideas and plans. Next week is the time for action, right?
Oooh look at these shiny objects . . .
- What are you up to this weekend? I am going to the march in Washington, DC this weekend.
- What the march is about.
- No matter what your thoughts are about the inauguration, this is kind of a cool thing to do.
I’ve been reading . . . Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah. I finished it this week, and it was “meh.” The last third of the book was better than the first two-thirds.
I’m also reading a collection of Robert Bly’s poetry called Like the New Moon, I Will Live My Life, and I just started The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. I’m excited to finally read this book. When it first came out, I wasn’t that interested in it. (I’m not a big nonfiction reader.) One of my friends has been singing its praises so I’m finally getting around to it.
I’ve been watching . . . Good Girls Revolt. I am almost done with Season 1—the first and last season. I am so sad. Amazon cancelled it and for whatever reason, no one else picked it up. Really smart and interesting show.
I’ve been listening to . . . the La La Land soundtrack obsessively still. I love this song and the dance sequence—just wish it lasted longer. This “City of Stars” clip shows two different scenes using the song. The second scene is one of my favorites in the movie. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling seem so natural and at ease with each other, and there is this part where Ryan Gosling messes up and they laugh and keep going with the song. So good!
Have a wonderful weekend!
