So I’ve been thinking . . . can I go away somewhere quiet for awhile with no phones, no computer, no TVs, no texting, no SnapChatting, Facebooking, Instagramming, Twittering, news feeding?
It’s been yet another unusual week. I’ll just say that I’m definitely glad it’s Friday, and I plan on a nice, quiet fall weekend, focusing on the Chicago Cubs.
Hope you have some lovely things planned for this weekend, whether it’s staying in and watching a good movie or going out and getting pumpkins and mums for the fall.
And another thing (or two or five) . . .
- Don’t forget to register to vote.
- As you may know, I love those Viking Kittens. Here’s one more reason to love them.
- I went to Toronto last weekend and did this. Seriously a super cool and FREE event. Would love to see more cities do this.
- This is happening. Not sure I can wait a year!
- Because this made me happy.
I’ve been reading . . . We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. So far, so good. Still saving my The Book Thief review for another time. Stay tuned!
I’ve been watching . . . TED Talks and wild_life with Bertie Gregory.
I’ve been listening to . . . Yusuf/Cat Stevens still. Am also listening to Glen Phillips’ new album Swallowed by the New (great title!), which released today.
It is with a heavy heart when I say this: I don’t love it. I love Glen Phillips, I love his songs, and I love his music style. While I do like the album, I don’t love it yet. There hasn’t been a standout song for me on this one. They all kind of meld together. I don’t like sounding negative about this album because I read this was a deeply personal album for him, writing about his divorce and life after the divorce. One of the things I love about him is that his songs are so deeply personal. I’ll keep listening, of course. No matter what, he’s got a great sound.
Have a wonderful weekend!
