I am a sucker for love stories. Happy love stories. And since this is the first day of the month of celebrating love, what better way to start the month with an inspiring love story.
I read about Charles “LaLa” Evans’ story from the Ellen web site. Immediately, I fell in love with his story—I had to find out more.
LaLa and his wife Louise were married for 59 years and 11 months before she passed away. After she passed, he turned their home into a museum of love. He pinned over a thousand photos of the two of them and of her all over the walls of in their home.
When you see and hear LaLa talk about Louise and their life together, believe me, you will fall in love with him. I’m not the only one who has. The band Mutemath worked with LaLa to feature his story (and him) in their music video for their song “Monument.” I love the video and the song. Clearly, so does LaLa—his reaction to the music video Mutemath made is priceless. (Every single one of these links is so worth watching. It will put a smile on your face and leave you feeling happy. And for some more fun and inspiration, here’s the making of the video.)
LaLa and Louise’s story is one of the most inspiring love stories I’ve ever heard about. This kind of love is a gift, and while I think it’s rare, I hope that it becomes the kind of love that is the norm for people.
